Through exploration of materials, one hopes to uncover the intrinsic soul and energy within each. I have come to favour Paint for it’s unpredictable nature, in which outside forces can inflict their will upon them. Ceramics are also a developing medium, as their very nature causes them to hold a certain density, a weight, as well as a certain etherealness. These lend themselves well to the concept of death, and my ever increasing fears about it; which fuel my artistic practice. My fears about death, and the inevitability of it, and what happens after it, concerns me a great deal. Influenced by these fears, as well as a burgeoning fascination with religious practices and tragedy throughout humanities history; one hopes to create a practice that debates and comforts those who feel the same.
