The Sound of a Heartbeat

As I spoke with my friend Rhys today, we discussed my project’s current direction, which seems to be going in the direction of symbolism of the ‘Heart’. The Heart is often shown with connotations of embrace and warmth, the heartbeat often heard only when you are in a close embrace with a loved one. You can sense that they are still alive, that they are still warm, but it is also unsettling as a sound. It in itself is a clock, which is constantly beating, continuously thumping away, signiying a countdown to the end of that person’s life.

The heartbeat relaxes us so much because not only does it often occur during the embrace of a loved one, but is the exact same sound we heard as children, when we would holld onto our mothers for dear life. I miss those days, nothing mattered but that warmth.
